Weapons to Mexico

The anti gunners have a new battle cry. The weapons being used by the Latin drug lords originate in the US. We have to enact stricter gun laws to help curb the violence at the Mexican border and beyond. We Americans are responsible for arming the drug selling murderers.

We have all heard the quote used both by President Obama and Secretary Clinton, “ 90% of weapons seized at the Mexican border are traceable to the US” . What they don’t tell you is; this figure is derived from weapons seized by the Mexican government, which are turned over to the US for tracing. Of the weapons confiscated, only the clearly identified, US manufactured, semi-automatic ones are being sent back for tracing. Why would they send back for tracing, Military weapons produced abroad? They know they are not traceable in the US, and do not turn them over to the US. For example, I confiscate 15,000 weapons. Of these, 100 seem to be of US origin and are sent back for tracing. Of those, 90 are traceable (i.e 90/100=.9) giving us the 90% figure. However as a percentage of the total weapons confiscated (i.e 90/15,000=.006 or .6%) we are only looking at a little more than 1/2 %, an insignificant number . So, for this administration to say, 90% of the weapons confiscated are of US origin is deceptive and un-true.

There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a
